California couple charged with robbery and auto

A 28-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman have been taken into custody in California in connection with a convenience store robbery and a car . They are both being held at the El Dorado County Jail. The woman has been charged with possessing a stolen vehicle and robbery. Her bond has been set at $115,000. The man has been charged with robbery and failing to update his sex offender registration. His bond has been set at $155,000. Both of the crimes the two suspects are accused of committing took place on the afternoon of May 20.

The events that led to the couple being arrested began at about 2:50 p.m. That is when the South Lake Tahoe Police Department says a man and woman wearing face masks entered a convenience store on Lake Tahoe Boulevard in South Lake Tahoe and demanded money. The clerk told officers that he recognized the woman as a former employee of a Pioneer Trail convenience store. He also told officers that he believed the man was armed.

The couple was taken into custody while behind the wheel of a Toyota SUV that had been reported stolen from a residence on San Francisco Avenue according to media reports. Deputies from the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office pulled the vehicle over in Fresh Pond after receiving a call from a SLTPD detective who is said to have alerted them after seeing the vehicle.
